St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, will welcome scientists, clinicians, and professionals from across disciplines on November 5–6, 2026, for the Pediatric Palliative Oncology Academic Leadership Collaborative & Symposium — known as the PAL Symposium. The two-day gathering is one of the field's most important annual forums for advancing scholarship, education, and collaboration at the intersection of pediatric oncology and palliative care.

"Building Bridges and Facilitating our Future: Harnessing Tomorrow's Technology for Connection and Collaboration Today" — the theme guiding the 2026 symposium.

This year's theme places emerging technology at the centre of the conversation, with an emphasis on interactive engagement and the incorporation of new tools — from AI and virtual reality to telehealth — to advance academic pediatric palliative oncology. The symposium builds on a strong foundation of interdisciplinary partnership, bringing together diverse voices to shape the future of care for children and families.

A convergence of expertise and experience

Featured experts, including interprofessional investigators, educators, clinicians, bereaved parents, and advocates, will address a host of topics through lectures and interactive workshops. Scientific presentations and poster sessions — spanning research, education, and quality improvement — will drive evidence-based knowledge dissemination and provide rich networking opportunities. Special focus will be given to the adolescent and young adult (AYA) palliative oncology population.

Who should attend

Oncology and palliative care clinicians, educators, and researchers across all disciplines are encouraged to join. The organizing committee extends a particular welcome to psychosocial professionals — including psychologists, social workers, child life specialists, and chaplains — as well as patient and family partners, advocates, and trainees at all levels of their careers. Attendance is available both in-person in Memphis and virtually, ensuring broad access regardless of location or scheduling constraints.

Submit an abstract — all are welcome

Abstract submissions are now open through 11:00 PM CST on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. All are encouraged to submit, regardless of professional role or level of training. The symposium is deeply committed to supporting the career development of multi-disciplinary trainees and junior faculty. A limited number of travel stipends will be offered to highly rated abstracts to support in-person attendance. Decisions on abstract acceptance will be communicated by mid-July 2026.
