General Assembly

The Democratic Foundation
  • Composition: Individual and institutional members
  • Meeting Frequency: Every 3 years during APCA Triennial International Conference
  • Key Responsibilities: Appoints Board of Directors, approves external auditors
  • Democratic Mandate: Serves as the highest decision-making authority

Strategic Leadership Hub
  • Composition: 10 distinguished members with diverse expertise
  • Term Structure: Two three-year terms for continuity and renewal
  • Selection Criteria: Skills-based nomination with regional and language representation
  • Core Functions: Strategic oversight, policy approval, resource mobilization support
  • Meeting Schedule: Quarterly virtual/face-to-face sessions

Operational Leadership

The APCA Secretariat, led by the Executive Director, serves as the operational arm of the organization, implementing strategic decisions and managing day-to-day activities. This dedicated team of professionals works tirelessly to advance palliative care across Africa through program implementation, research coordination, stakeholder engagement, and administrative excellence. The Secretariat bridges the gap between strategic governance and ground-level impact, ensuring that the Board's vision translates into meaningful action across the continent.
