Sustainability
Building resilient systems, securing our future, and ensuring that palliative care remains a permanent pillar of health across Africa for generations to come.
Why Sustainability Matters
For 20 years, APCA has championed palliative care across Africa. As we look to the next decade, sustainability is at the heart of our mission—ensuring that compassionate care is not dependent on short-term funding, but embedded in national health systems, supported by diverse financing, and driven by strong local leadership.
Our Strategic Plan 2020-2030 positions sustainability as a core objective, recognizing that lasting change requires resilient organisations, domestic financing, and communities empowered to care for their own.

From Survival to Sustainability
In 2024-2025, APCA facilitated a six-module virtual training on resource mobilisation for 25 leaders from National Palliative Care Associations across 12 countries. Using participatory workshops and case studies, we equipped organisations with strategies to diversify resources and build resilient, sustainable palliative care systems.
This is sustainability in action: African leaders building African solutions for lasting compassionate care.
Secure the Future of Palliative Care
Sustainability is not just about funding—it's about ensuring that every person facing serious illness in Africa receives dignified, compassionate care, now and forever.
