Join the mpall digital innovation initiative for technology powered patient care

mPAL

mPallCare is a digital health platform designed to support palliative care providers across Africa. Developed by the University of Leeds in partnership with the African Palliative Care Association and MRT IT Peaks Limited, mPallCare enables care teams to track patient symptoms, concerns, and clinical data through a mobile application and web-based dashboard.

How mPallCare Works

  • The mobile application allows patients and healthcare workers to record symptoms and concerns using validated tools such as the APCA Palliative Outcome Scale and the Distress Thermometer.
  • The clinical dashboard enables care teams to review individual patient reports and aggregated symptom data to enhance care management.
  • The platform provides policymakers with insights into palliative care needs across participating sites.

Call for Participation: 13 Pilot Sites Needed

Palliative care providers across Africa are invited to participate in this pilot study and help refine mPallCare for wider implementation. Participation is free of charge, but sites must use their own electronic devices to access the system. Closing 10th March 2025

Benefits of Participation

  • Training is provided through a one-hour online session to equip teams with the skills to use mPallCare.
  • Clinics will integrate mPallCare into their patient care workflows.
  • Feedback from participating sites will help enhance and optimize the platform.
  • mPallCare is designed to be used with existing mobile devices, ensuring secure and cost-effective implementation.
